Skip Commercials with DISH’s New Auto Hop Feature for the Hopper and Joey

Updated on May 10, 2012

DVR and its ability to fast-forward through commercials has likely made your TV viewing experience substantially more convenient. Thanks to DISH’s recent upgrade to their whole-home HD-DVR Hopper and Joey system, skipping commercials just got even easier.

Today, DISH officially introduced their new Hopper and Joey update: the Auto Hop feature. This feature allows you to skip all commercials on recorded Primetime programming with the push of a button. Watching your favorite shows uninterrupted? It’s a DVR junky’s dream.

Auto Hop revolutionizes the way you watch your recorded primetime shows

The new Auto Hop functions as a part of the Hopper and Joey’s Primetime Anytime feature. When Primetime Anytime is enabled, the Hopper will automatically record all primetime programming on the big 4 local networks in HD: ABC, CBS, FOX, and NBC. Beginning at 1 AM EST the day after the show has been recorded (or technically, just a few hours after it’s aired), DISH customers can skip the commercials with one click while watching most Primetime Anytime recordings.

Before 1 AM EST and during live TV viewing, the Auto Hop feature can’t be used. However, the Hopper’s 30-second Hop Forward feature is still functional for recordings watched before the commercial skipping cut-off time.

Check out the Hopper and Joey system if you haven’t already and get Auto Hop

If you’re already a DISH customer and are enjoying the Hopper and Joey system, this update will be made automatically to your system. If you’re not a DISH customer or haven’t considered the Hopper and Joey for your whole-home DVR system, it’s definitely worth looking into. It’s received rave reviews from tech magazines and blogs like PCMagazine and Engadget, and the Auto Hop feature takes it one step further as a highly innovative HD-DVR system with never-before-seen features.

You won’t find the Auto Hop feature anywhere else but with DISH

If you want to be able to skip the commercials while watching your recorded primetime shows, the Hopper and Joey is currently the only system with the advanced technology that will allow you to do so.
